VKR Holding A/S Company History

Archivist in Company History

Archivist in Company History

For over 80 years, the VKR Group has been driven by a passion for enhancing everyday life through the power of daylight, fresh air, and a healthier environment. This vision began with Villum Kann Rasmussen, the inventor of the VELUX® roof window.

Now you have a unique opportunity to connect the past with the present in the VKR Group, contributing to the future development of a family- and foundation-owned company with a significant place in Danish industrial history.  If you are driven, service-minded, and curious, we invite you to apply and be part of our journey!

Join a team with a unique position

We are looking for an archivist to join our Company History team, responsible for gathering and archiving both physical and digital artifacts and documents to preserve the history of the VKR Group (VELUX® and DOVISTA®), including the history of the founding family and the Foundations. In collaboration with the business areas, we communicate the history of the VKR Group and DNA to over 17,000 employees, supporting cohesion and development in line with the Model Company Objective. The Company History team is a team of four and a part of Model Company Services, and you will report to Project Director Christian Bækgaard.

You will work in a passionate environment, engage with many stakeholders, and develop your skills in a supportive team with a creative and ambitious approach.

Your responsibilities

As a small team, we cover a wide range of tasks, and we are all responsible for achieving the team's goals and objectives while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.  Your primary work areas will be:

Manage and develop the historical archive, including the founding family's’ historical archive:

  • Maintain and categorize the archive and keep archiving policies up to date, including policies for documenting acquired companies’ histories.
  • Receive and archive ‘new’ historical artifacts such as windows, documents and photos.
  • Monitor significant accomplishments throughout the VKR Group, e.g., for use in the annual report.

Support communication of company history for relevant audiences

  • Keep our global company brochure collection up to date.
  • Maintain list of company anniversaries and Company Group milestones.
  • Contribute with contents for articles, historical magazines and other publications
  • Proactively seek significant historical information.
  • Collaborate with the VILLUM Window Collection in Søborg as well as the VELUX Collection located in Østbirk.

Your qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should hold a BA in History, Archiving, Records Management, or a related field, with an MA being a distinct advantage. You will need a minimum of 5 years of experience in historical archiving, documentation, and communication within a larger public institution or private organization. A strong understanding of digital archiving and retrieval systems is essential, along with an interest in how AI can enhance these processes. Your knowledge of industrial, organizational, and economic history will help you appreciate how history influences business practices. Fluency in Danish and English, both written and spoken, is a requirement.

We are looking for a methodical and structured colleague with project management skills, who recognizes the importance of blending service-mindedness with curiosity and enjoys working with passionate stakeholders. We are eager to explore how digital tools can enhance our processes in the Company History department, and we hope our new colleague will bring skills and valuable ideas.

Your opportunities

As an archivist, you will have the unique opportunity to join a company that emphasizes the preservation and communication of our history across the VKR Group, a significant player in Danish industrial history.

“VKR Company History has the privilege of providing historical services and communication to our entire global corporate group. We preserve history and contribute knowledge about our values, culture, and DNA, which supports daily operations and the marketing of our fantastic products. It is a very inspiring journey to be a part of”.
